I've recently realized that my real addiction is to the way coffee makes me feel and not so much the drink itself. If I go a day without it I have no physical symptoms of addiction, but I feel a little less whole that day. That may sound dramatic, but for me coffee is like a wish and a coffee shop is the genie that grants that wish. I paid a visit to the latest wish-granting genie to arrive in Milwaukee when I was home a few weeks ago. Kickapoo Coffee in the Third Ward is exactly the minimalistic and airy style that MKE was lacking. I spent the better half of my day on their bamboo benches with one of my best friends, eating the most heavenly biscuit sandwiches, and writing dream lists. Yes, coffee is good on it's own, but what makes it great is it's ability to bring people together in the happiest of atmospheres.

If you're in Milwaukee and have yet to get to Kickapoo it's located at:

232 E. Erie St.
