When I moved to Florida, my mission was simple: clarity. I had to finally get over that quarter-life crisis that began on my 24th birthday, tackle my anxiety head-on, and find methods that help me through tough times so that I’m better prepared in the future. For a while I’ve felt like I’m over all of that (FINE-UH-LY), mission accomplished. So the past few weeks I’ve been wondering what’s next? Something that was brought to my attention by Jess Lively is the difference between pleasure and self-care (I always thought they were the same thing). For me self-care is eating healthy, running, meditating, yoga, taking a bath, and having me-time. Pleasure is hanging out with friends, watching a good movie/TV show, riding my bike, reading, and eating ice cream. Defining the two for myself has really helped me balance them. Too much of either can make you a little crazy.

The other thing I’m focusing on is letting go of how other people might see me. I’ve noticed lately that I often want to defend myself and explain my intention behind everything i.e. why I posted that Instagram photo, why I don’t go on Facebook much anymore, why I think being single is equal parts awesome and terrifying (a topic that I still plan on touching on soon). It’s a little exhausting to want to share with the world that everything you’re doing has an intent for either the future or your current happiness and not in vain. I suppose it is entirely human to not want to be judged, but I'm trying to work on letting it go because it seems much easier that way :) Besides, I’d much rather have a few people who really get me and love everything that I put out into the world than tons of people who might only like me because I’m people pleasing.

Let's chat about these flares quick, because A) they're only $78 from Free People and B) they're actually ridiculously comfortable. They're a high rise style and and have the perfect amount of stretch. Working at Free People is really making me appreciate the rebirth of old styles. Some ladies say that flares are so 70's, but to me they're 90's and now they're back again, which in some ways makes them kind of timeless. You guys already know I'm a denim girl at heart, so you can imagine how much love and wear these babies are getting lately ♥
