Christkindlmarket

After living in South Florida last year at this time, I feel extra appreciative of all the magic and wonder that living in Chicago offers during the holiday season. A few weeks ago I was running errands downtown and just happened to pass by the Christkindlmarket. I’d heard of the market a while ago and wanted to make an effort to get there this year so imagine my excitement when I walked out of the most boring errand you could run (a stop at the DMV) and right into this wonderland in the middle of a busy city!
A few days later I was on a walk with a friend when we noticed an excessive amount of traffic and wondered what was up. A bit of googling and we learned that it was zoo lights weekend! We decided to go home, bundle up even more, and head there for the evening. It was so festive and spontaneous and holy cow the peppermint hot chocolate was to die for :)
Chicago truly embodies the song “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,” with lights, garland, and fun experiences like these all around for the season! But if you don’t live here take some time to seek out what holiday experiences are in your city. Both the Christkindlmarket and zoo lights were free and I was able to make it to both with some friends which is what the holidays are about :)
