Big Magic

I just finished the book "Big Magic" by Elizabeth Gilbert and it was one of those books that came into my life at just the right time. Lately I have had more flexibility with my schedule which has been wonderful. The book is about creative living beyond fear and it was just the perfect reminder to use this extra time to dive into anything I'm curious about, whether that be a new coffee spot, drawing, dancing, or taking a mid-day bath. Giving myself the permission to do this has been liberating :) I highly recommend giving the book a read if you are interested in anything creative (you're a human so you likely are) and you're wondering how to fit it into your possibly mundane life. Gilbert is one of the most free-spirited and put-together authors of our time and I love reading her work! The "put-together" part is important because she touches on how creators don't have to choose the starving, tortured artist path. We can live and function in society, take care of ourselves and our art, and still be happy (a concept that seems to have escaped many great artists and musicians of our time). If you've read it I'd love to hear what you thought about the book!

In other news the weather has gotten quite bearable in Chicago lately and you can feel that we're on the cusp of spring! I've been able to bring out some lighter jackets like this one from SheIn. I'll admit the site can be a little hit or miss with quality, but I've definitely found some pieces that I work into my wardrobe on the regular and you really just can't beat the prices. This coat is going to be a staple for me this spring and on my next trip which I'm excited to share about soon!
