One Thing

A few weeks ago I met up with a family friend who was interviewing me for a school project.  Most of the questions were about my life and business experiences, but there was one question in particular that stood out to me. After asking me "If I could change one thing about myself what would it be?" (to which I very quickly responded), he then asked me:

"What is the one thing you like most about yourself?"

Which seems like an incredibly straightforward and simple question, but I was at a loss. After a few seconds of thinking about it I replied," I like that I've always been one to do my own thing, and I don't care what anyone else is doing." Which is true to an extent, but ever since I gave that answer I can't help thinking gosh is this even a trait that I really like about myself? I mean, I've found myself in a lot of difficult positions because of this trait. It certainly wasn't easy for me in high school when I felt like I was the only one who was never in a relationship (I'm picky) and I was the only one who chose not to go to prom. It also hasn't been easy being the strange one of my friend group who struggled to pick a major and find a passion in college and then ended up on this crazy entrepreneurial path. A path that is foreign to so many.

Weeks later, If I could "edit" my answer to his question, I would spin it a bit to say I like that I don't settle! I'll never settle in a relationship, job, or friendship that I'm not satisfied with, and that's a quality I really do like about myself. Isn't it sad though how difficult it can be to come up with an honest answer to this question?! Although this post seems like a lot of "me, me, me" today I actually brought it up because I want to pose the question to you! Tell me one thing that you truly like about yourself in the comment (and bonus points if you tell me how long it took you to think of it…because I'm interested in that too)!
