Sunset Chaser

There's a fire that lights within me when the sun is going down, especially in the summertime. Ever since I was little there’s something about the last precious wink of sunlight before the sky falls dark that makes me restless. I want to get outside and soak in every last drop of day that’s left. I recently told a friend that I would choose a sunrise over a sunset, but I think that was strictly based on the symbolism. I love that a sunrise represents a new beginning and I crave the calm before the storm of a busy day. If you perceive it like this that would mean a sunset represents somber endings. Taking symbolism out of the equation, in the moment a sunset feels like the day is giving you one last chance. A chance to turn it around, to go for a drive and listen to your favorite song, to get outside, to grab a friend for an ice cream run, to go to the beach. It’s as if the day were saying, “ Alright, this is it! How do you want this day to end? You have one hour left, and the choice is yours.” And I always thank the day for that.
